R1 Transmission Video

Wow the amount of work that needs to be done for this recall is mind blowing. Take a look at this Yamaha USA tech video. This is 7 minutes of a 2 day repair. Yikes.

For sale: One slightly used R1....offers considered.....

  1. And what about the work to get the transmission to the work bench from the point where you switch off the ignition and climb off the bike. Holy crap!!

What are the odds of doing all that without screwing something up!?!?

    1. That's what I was thinking, the chances of the shop screwing it up is potentially huge.

  2. And this is why you leave all that technical stuff to the shop guys. And probably why the shop rate is so high, the patience they have to have to work on bikes......

  3. That looks like a time consuming and therefore expensive little exercise. I bet someone at Yamaha got their arse kicked over that - it must be costing them a fortune. Has your bike been done yet?

    1. I haven't had mine done yet, but have rang them and they have ordered in the kit required for doing the works. I still debating whether or not to get it done.

    1. No mate not yet, I'm thinking to wait until winter to get it done. I've been busy on weekends and haven't got any rides in.

    1. Hi Mate
Thanks for dropping by. I've just got the bike back on saturday and I'm hoping to get out this weekend and try it out.
